I watched the last 40 laps, missed the start!!
Well done Jenson, you have deserved this championship!!

Also well pleased for Ross being his first year as owner of Brawn Racing, he has done justice for himself and Honda must by now be kicking themselves in the nether regions for giving up their team.
Wish I put my money on where my mouth was early on in the year when I said I was backing him to win the championship, so pleased he did as there were many who criticised him as a driver in not doing enough, now hopefully they will have to eat their words. Feel sorry for Rubens as once again bad luck has struck on home soil.
Looking to next season (even though this one has not finished) can either Button or Lewis do it again to make it 3 British Championships in a row or am I being too much of an optimist?
Regards
Nigel.

Sorry chaps but I still don't see what's clever about driving a car fast in circles....or the point.
Not the act that annoys me but the money they are paid for it

Doesn't have to be clever to be entertaining, or indeed difficult.
Not the act that annoys me but the money they are paid for it
Well you're not paying them so it's not really your problem...

Never a truer word said Garry, all overpaid.....how can one justify paying a driver millions of pounds yes, they do a dangerous job, one minute they are alive...the next they could be dead...but that is the sport they have chosen and equally they are aware of the risks...I only watch motorsport for the enjoyment of seeing some-one I want to win.....win.
Sadly though the spirit of F1 in comparison to the fifties and sixties is no more.
Nigel.

Hi Skip
We do pay them
The sponsor pass on the cost in increased prices to us all on the products they are involved with.

how can one justify paying a driver millions of pounds
Basic supply and demand theory to be honest, there are what, about 10 drivers who can get the best out of an F1 car, plus a few others who make up the grid. If you want your car to win you'll have to pay someone to drive it, as demand outstrips supply for top notch drivers you'll have to pay them a lot or someone else will. You're paying them because it gives you a better chance of winning, the more wins and points you score the more sponsorship you can get which then lets you develop a car that can win a race and get sponsorship, without which there'd be no F1.
The teams are happy that it's worth investing that much in the driver to improve their chances of scoring points, if they didn't help generate income to the team they wouldn't get paid that much. Which is how the private sector determines pay levels, rather than the public sectors' method of making numbers up and claiming its workers are worth it. I'm not incidentally but I'm better value than an MP.
To Gary, yes it is passed on in sponsorship costs, because the companies paying it believe it helps them sell more product, if they didn't they'd spend the money on another form of marketing. But again the companies involved believe it's worth spending the money on the grounds of return on investment, strangely sums of money that large aren't thrown around on a whim.

All things considered.. no drive at the start of the year.. no team even.. they've done a good job at Brawn regardless of how much it costs. I honestly don't think it costs us anything. Sponsors pay a whole pile of money so that the likes of us will buy their products.. that's it!
Look at b1oody footballers. What do they get paid in relation to what they actually do
