Yes indeed mate. Of all the replies I saw come back, there was only me who'd said to go for the 2 runs.. everyone else (with the exception of the team leader) thought that was too much :-O It seems that logic has prevailed ;) My reasoning.. we only have 2 engines to prepare which isn't anywhere near as time consuming as it is with 4 plus with ONLY two engines running.. the batteries are more than capable of starting all 4 and that, in essence is what they'll be doing.. 4 starts :) This was probably argued over on Saturday (which I missed being here) and agreement reached at the end of play ;) My overall feeling is that we should have attempted to go for 3 (no.2 will still start and run fine) but I'm happy to get 2 runs off 2 engines instead of 1 run :D

If you pop over to http://www.brooklandsmuseum.com you'll see we're not even mentioned on the engine run page but.. visit the Vimy page to get a full explanation of why the Vimy is being grounded ;)

I bet no one in Joe public realises just how much work is involved in even getting one started and you do better than the Brit at Kemble :)

I good plus is that #3 wil ne one of them so itwill at least have the unique Vanguard sound :D

Bad luck mate :( There's never a good time for this sort of thing to happen just that sometimes, it's more inconvenient than others

Think positive mate.. there's always next year

Much is said about the Vulcan 'Howl' but I feel equally passionate about the sound of RR Tynes (Darts too for that matter) and would like nothing more than for you all to experience it. Alas.. even with a hurricane blowing, I doubt we could get it to reach that far :(

Your good wishes much appreciated. Rest assured I'll do what I can to ensure the run goes well

Do you think you can manage without me this time, Dave? :(

First Great Western have got other plans for me on that day - and they pay better than you do
