Callouts - English speak!

Post by delticbob »

Are ther a set of callouts that can be added to a panel where the 'minimums' is given as 'decision', & with an English voice :excited:

Cheers

Bob,

Are you after GPWS type sounds, or spoken by the FO type sounds? FS9 or FSX?

Yes it is for FS9, & yes I do mean the altitude callouts....ya know 1000 - 500 etc, but when it gets to minimums it would be nice to have 'decision' instead.

I'm hoping I know a man who might have such a set but I've yet to speak to him.

cheers anyhow,

Bob

Bob,

You might want to look at http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?Ca ... LID=110378

Although it say it's for PMDG only, the sound files could be copied to any GPWS gauge. I use http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?Ca ... DLID=69683

If you want spoken voices from your FO, I can point you in the direction of some files, but they only count down from 500.

If only we could have air traffic controllers who speak with a local accent, ie English accent while flying in the UK, a German accent in Germany, etc. Nothing kills the immersion factor like arriving in foreign airspace just to be greeted by a controller who sounds like he hails from Ohio. :wall:

Classic American Flight Sim, I'm afraid! At least I can understand the controllers' accents anywhere in the world :) .

Cheers Brian -
I remember from a couple of years ago a similar discussion in another forum - the OP had made a Scottish airport scenery, and wanted a suitable ATC voice. Someone who knows the subject (John Hinson?) pointed out that there were some 16,000 standard phrases used by the FS ATC engine, and that was for each voice; a similar set would have to be created for each regional accent. In theory it could be done, but it would be a massive labour of love.
Using EVP, it is not difficult (but very fiddly) to change a pronunciation. For example, in the N-W Highlands of Scotland, 'is' comes out as 'iss' while a Glasgow-born controller would say 'ehz' . It's not too hard to find a matching sound in EVP, and cut and paste it to assemble a new pronunciation, but there is nothing which lets you add the Highland lilt, or the Glaswegian sing-song.
At the time, I found a payware which offered various regional accents, and that may still be around. The trouble was, to get the ones you wanted, you had to buy a lot that you didn't really want. It may still be around.

Hope this helps

I think this was it:

"Traffic 2005 includes helicopter traffic - a first for any commercial flight simulation traffic expansion.

The package comes with a custom voicepack which provides additional pilot and ATC voices. The FS2004 default only includes American accented voices - the voices included in Traffic 2005 are one US English, two British English and one English voice with a German accent"
IIRC, there were (or were to be) expansion packs for other regions.
