"It will give us unprecedented answers to the big question: how can we make air crashes more survivable?"
Oh, fantastic, that's what the world of aviation was waiting for all the time!

Here's an even more detailed article:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2009/no ... -channel-4

Any idea of what plane type (articles say 300-seater) they're going to crash?
And how they're going to manage the pilots' escape?

I really wondering if there will ever be a zenith for masses being obsessed with watching destruction and demolition.
Looks like we haven't come too far since the romans... 8)

Any chance of packing the seats with "Strictly I'm a Z lIster, make me famous, and Louis Walsh thinks I'm talented Bruvver" contestants??

Just for a bit of interest throw in one parachute......... :OB:

For that matter, when was the last time anyone parachuted out of a 300 seat aircraft?

Rumours have it as a TriStar but how much fact that's based on is unknow

Like Allan's idea for the pax load except not Louis :-O .......he's the most down to Earth of all those judges and not afraid to speak his mind :)

Hmmm

Sorry Julian, but it has been done before:

I believe that one of the things that was being tested here was "Anti-Misting Kerosene" which I believe was supposed to be much less likely to ignite in an impact situation. Clearly it worked well

HI Toby

That Boeing 707 is a 720   but they say nothing has been crashed this big before and that would be right if it is something like a TriStar which is a great deal bigger *-)

Other than the RAF? :D

720 is sort of a 707, although I didnt caption those clips  Tristar is a bit bigger yes, but its a similar order of magnitude (you could crash test a GA aircraft which would be cheaper to orchestrate and contains many similar structures albeit at a much smaller scale).

Hi Charlie

There are 13 so that the nine RAF and four others but if it is a TriStar it might be one of a few more airwothy but in store and unlikely to fly again *-)

HI Toby

Yes I know it wasn't you that called it a 707

Structually the 720 has very little in common with the 707.
