Classic British Flight Sim

I haven't heard anybody mention this before and I just came across it via the World of AI site. It's called Traffic View Board and integrates with the traffic. It's simpler than MS Traffic Toolbox and runs within FS rather than alongside using extra resources. It installs as an invisible aircraft which you can select when you choose. The range is selectable and it automatically picks up all the ATC in the area. You select which AI aircraft you want to follow and use the 'S' key to cycle views.

Here's the neat little interface panel with selectable options. This is the view from an AI Cessna over London. The panel is only visible in the forward view.



And this sequence follows QF32 to Singapore on departure from LHR. You'd probably only use this forward view for the panel!

I use TVB and you can show the display in spot view also - just hit Shift-1 to bring up the display. That way you can follow an AI aircraft during flight. The only problem is ATC keeps warning the AI aircraft about an "experimental" aircraft in close proximity. I also added Com radios to the display so I can tune the tower or ground handling if I want. The TVB display does have a Com button, but that will only tune the frequency that the AI aircraft is tuned to.

This is a very nice piece of kit...Its real charm is that it takes the "User Aircraft" (The TrafficBoard) along with the AI Target so there are no limits on range...If you send something around the World then you can watch it all the way...It will stay with the target over its stopovers and just carry on taking the User with it. I just followed Bealine 208 Trident 3 from McLeland Field to Seattle and back. Also AIBlast is carried along with it too.

Hey...another great bonus with this smart little tool...Because the Traffic Board latches to your AI Traffic target, FSNav now shows your AI Target moving on its Map display instead of showing your user aircraft fixed back at base. So you can now follow the entire flight of your target with the FSNav map on your second monitor...Fabulous

BTW I you remember the sequence of getting this program started, you can SAVE a paused flight and get back into it later

I have used this for some years and I am pleased that the author periodically updates TVB with new callsigns etc. Useful when checking a new AI program.

Thanks for giving it a good workout, Peter! I didn't have much time after I found it so I didn't realise how good it was. I thought the best thing was being able to avoid using MS Traffic Toolbox which somehow loses control of the static user aircaft if it's left too long. But I can see you've found that it has even more to offer. Hopefully, I'll have some time over the next few days to mess around with it myself.

Now then - Hobby and Nigel 2! You're very naughty boys It's not very nice to let us discover these things by accident and then say that you've been using it for years Now go away and check your FS folder and see if there's anything else tucked away in there that you haven't told us about!!!
