Many Many thanks to Dave Garwood for a fine model of the Auster.Sorry if this has been asked before. Trouble is, there is no cockpit glass in FSX. Does anyone know the reason? Is there an answer? Or am I just missing something? Any help very gratefully received.
Thanks in anticipation. Glynn :help:

Hello Glyn and welcome :hello:

You pose the question as if it were an FS.9 model.

Dave's Auster is FS.X so everything is fine

Can you just check you've intstalled evrythig as it should be please :)

My Auster was designed for FSX Sp2 / Acceleration, and works fine with that. If you have the original FSX unpatched or just with Sp1 you may encounter issues.

Hi Glynn ( I ponted him over here) Dave's Auster is in the Library here (via the front page), DL it and see if it is that model you have been using. If you are running FSX without SP2 you are missing about 70% of what FSX is really about, it's free to upgrade.

Hi to all,
Many thanks for your help to date. and your postings. Just to update you all...the model I d/l was for fsx and I am sure everything was installed correctly, but will d/l it again just to make sure.
I did have SP2 installed and working but had to delete it, because my Graphics Card just did not like it [Nvidia GeForce7900].
I know... it' 's pretty old hat now, but it's what my Dell Dimension came with and was state of the art at the time. I think this may be the problem. Trouble is, I will have to update my Power Supply to deal with a new card and Dell ensure that I cannot easily do this by making their PSU an odd size....so I am going round in circles.

Anyway, many thanks for your help so far. If anyone has any suggestions they would be gratefully received. :'(

SP2 seems to improve most aspects (including video) of FSX and makes it run better on slower PC's. I re-installed FSX (after ditching it a few weeks after it's release) and was suprised that it worked so much better. I now only use FS9 once in a blue moon, but still cannot find it within myself to delete it!!

I think a trip to the PC world sale might be worth investigating. Video cards (at least year old ones ;) ) seem cheaper in the UK now.

Hi Glynn,

As per FSX SP2 is a very significant upgrade and worth installing, even on a modest Nvidia 7900. I suspect the problem you might have is related to your fsx.cfg file. What I'd suggest is reinstall install the latest Nvidia drivers from www.nvidia.co.uk and reboot. Then install the latest directx from microsoft... http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en and reboot after the install completes. Then install SP2, after installation launch the sim (default flight will do) and then close it again. Then find your fsx.cfg file and rename it fsx.old. Then Launch the sim again. This time FSX will build a new FSX.cfg file, but with all the default resolutions etc, so you will need to adjust these back to the size / colour depth that you like. Assuming the resto fo your system is working normally and your not low on disk space everything should work well :cpu:
