Perched high in the French Alps with a steep sloping runway, this airport offers a real challenge to pilots. I found this link with some interesting videos of various small aircraft landing and taking off.

:doh: Why the didn't employ the flatten command when they built that airport, I'll never know. ;)

it's Mostly flat :agree:

besides... the command tools for flattening it any more hadn't been invented when the airport was built. :lol: :lol:



btw , thats one of my favorites Altiports, when ever I need a good hard simming .... I pick CVF ......

did you know they had a skijump there on the snowfront ... but they closed it due to :doh: safety concerns

Air Tyrol used to operate Dash 7s into and out of Courcheval . On take off , the Captain would open nos 2 and 3 to full power, and then release the brakes. V1 was on brake release, i.e. the moment you released you were committed , and at 50 kts IAS the First Officer would open nos 1 and 4 to full power. Below 50kts there was insufficient rudder authority to counter a swing if an outboard engine cut , hence this very hairy procedure
