Ouch, that smarts. What's the 'going rate' for doing 56mph in a 30mph zone in the UK ? Chappie at work got caught last week and is bricking it.

Regards

John

Almost double! The fine is variable and depends on circumstances, but they don't take to kindly to speeding in a 30. Also depends on the driving conditions... e.g. if he was doing 56 in a 30 and it was raining or worse still snowing, his lordship will be less than amused. In good conditions it will be a minimum 6 points.

Should have confiscated the car!

As for penalties and points on license try this calculator, only more or less gives an idea into how much you will be fines but don't forget to add an extra £15 crime victim surcharge to the amount.

It would be wrong to speculate what the outcome would be.

Thats up to the magistrates.

But getting caught doing nearly double the speed limit would usually result in a serious penalty.

And rightly so. :wall:
