The Sukhoi T-50, first new military aircraft since the collpase of the Soviet Union
flies. Similarities with another production aircraft are, errrrrrrr, striking

I have lost count how many times Soviet Aircraft appear off the production line in almost exact appearance to their western counterparts.
Must be espionage involved somewhere.

Its an F-22/YF-23/F-35ski....
It's almost like they started with a YF-23, but that lost, so rather than waste their work, they added a bit of F-22, and were just about done when the F-35 came along...

I wonder if it takes five hours to open the canopy on their version too?

Probably not Leif - because under those fancy body panels it will be a cleverly constructed collection of tried and tested soviet agricultural machinery parts. Bet it leaks oil everywhere though

It is definitely an interesting looking aircraft. Wonder when Roma(
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMLey8Kw ... r_embedded) will work out the deal to buy it and bring it here....
BTW, it's only Russian pistons that leak oil everywhere and that's because they copied us Americans in that regard.
If a Russian jet leaks anything, it doesn't fly. Meanwhile, we Americans didn't learn and (for example) actually have prescribed drip rates for the F/A-18's Engine Oil and Hydraulic system.
Nothing like marking your parking spot.
