Nimrod MR out of service print - NOW WITH PICTURE!
Posted: 13 Feb 2010, 11:06
Hi fellas,
I know the Nimrod is like Marmite; you either love it or hate it! At Kinloss on 42 Sqn we are producing a print to mark the end of over 40 years service by the Nimrod MR1 and MR2. It is being produced by Sqn Prints so quality will be good. The print shows the Sqn crests of 42, 120, 201, 203 and 206 Sqns, 236 OCU, NMSU (Nimrod Major Servicing Unit) and RAF stations Kinloss, St Mawgan and Luqa. The print depicts four aircraft:
1. A grey and white MR1 as introduced to service.
2. A hemp MR2 with air to air refuelling probe, hi-vis markings, sidewinder missiles and no wingtip pods as per Op Corporate for the Falkland Islands.
3. A hemp MR2 with air to air refuelling probe, lo-vis markings, wingtip pods, boz self defence pods.
4. XV226 in the grey 40th Anniversary colour scheme with Terma self defence pods.
The print is intended as a tribute to the aircraft, those that flew and maintained her, and those who supported the jet and her crews. It will only be available through 42 Sqn.
I can't at the moment post on-line a piccy due to copyright issues, but if anyone is interested PM me and I can e-mail you a unprintable and secure proof. Cost will be around 8 quid inc postage with all profits going to charity inc the RNLI. If anyone would like to order one just pm me and we'll take it from there.
Dave B - I hope you'll forgive this blatant advert! It's for a good cause.
Best wishes
Nige
