Hello Fellows :)

Trying that splendid little Eastbourne shown of late, I decided to hunt a few more out.. particularly aircraft we have examples of at Brooklands and was pleased to come across this little tinker.. the Flying Flea!

Paints aren't currently widely available for UK examples so I knocked this one up today for G-AEBB which resides at Shuttleworth. Cheap and cheerful :)

Fleeing yes, but only at around 55kts  The 'original' kits were designed for use with a 500cc 2-stroke motorcycle engine (hence my interest) and these worked just fine ;) However, when 'posh' folk started putting more powerful engines on t'front.. they started falling out of the sky with frightening regularity.. so much so that they were banned in certain countries! :-O Fortunately, those clever bods at RAE discovered that the more powerful engines/increased speed combination was causing a greater airflow over the rear/lower wing which ended up putting the flea into an unrecoverable nose-down state and devised a modification to stop this happening

It's an interesting little thing.. perhaps the worlds first kit microlight! When my wheels get back.. I feel the need to investigate the 'Flea' we have at Brooklands a little more ;)
