Ha, I flew G-AVIL ( the Ercoupe) quite a few times in the late 60s/early 70s. It was nice enough but arguably the most boring machine I think I ever flew with interlinked ailerons and rudder and a horrible lack of elevator authority, deliberately designed in to make it unstallable . I imagine that was taken at Hucknall : funnily enough I don't remember that livery, but I do notice that it says " vernonair" which definitely tallies with the period, because it was owned by Dave Vernon, a Viscount/Trident/Tristar captain who was a great character around Liverpool in the period

Lovely photos as always......the Ercoupe seemed familiar for some reason (so after a quick trip to G-INFO), I knew why. Its now based with all the Austers at Eggesford, painted up as VX147 the airframe that was tested at Boscombe Down in the early postwar years. Auster AOP WZ672 shown in its RAE Bedford colours is now resident in the States, but may return to these shores sometime in the future as its owned by a UK resident.
