Pass The Sick Bag (EZDok)

A quick heads up on probably one of the best add ons for FSX that there is - EZDok. EZDok does two things (at least that I know of) - it introduces a number of new internal and external views via various "cameras" and the best of all - it creates a real sense of movement. This movement really does create a sense of real flight, I tried it in the default Maul at low level and when I hit the deck (sometimes known as landing) after a short flight I thought I was going to lose my false teeth! I don't get airsick as a rule but I must admit to feeling a bit queezy even after 10 minutes or so. It's not big (download) but it's damned clever!

Regards,
Chris

Thanks for that Dave, I didn't want to appear to be pushing it too hard... Just a quick update on EzDok - version 1.14 out about now with various control improvements. The learning curve with the software is currently on the interesting side but I suspect it will get easier when v2 comes out. The default settings are pretty good in their own right but a bit of tuning would not go amiss. This seems to be one of those software packages that is progressing very rapidly after its initial release. Some might say that that is a bit unfair on the paying public but to be fair the initial release ain't bad at all and support is very active.

Regards,
Chris

Looks like a very useful tool - especially for a modeller to check out the VC and see what is not lined up or in the wrong place as you can't do that very well and you always get someone who places there eye point where you never dream of looking yourself :)

Does it work with trackIR or does trackIR negate it's purpose?

Re TrackIR - EZDok does not work with TrackIR or any similar programme (if there are any :dunno: ). There is an argument that EZDok might negate the use of TrackIR rather than the other way around, certainly with well set up cameras it is possible to move very smoothly between each but not as naturately as with TrackIR (as I understand it).

Chris

Hi all

I haven't posted here for a few years.

Ezdok, although remarkable in terms of creating a sense of movement is a step back for me once you are used to TIR. You need to use the hat switch to look around/outside 8) . For me that kills it. By the sound of it, the two pieces pf software cannot be made to talk to each other to make a merge possible. Very unfortunate.

Hi Erich :hello:

I'd say using the POV hat is a retrograde step too mate and it's one of the main reasons I don't like VC's. I bought a TIR and didn't like that either unfortunately so three cheers for 2D panels ;)

I wish everyone could make do with a 2D panel - it would save over 60% of the work required for a new model - but then I am talking FSX.
The other point is because of so much stuff has to be modelled in the VC you simply cannot include a full external model for the cockpit view unless the subject is quite a simple model. Besides I would think it "bad practice" to wander outside and have a look when you are ment to be learning IFR. :worried:
