Lovey Dovey!

I have been having a wonderful time enjoying the great DH 104 Dove found on this site!

I have created a new skin for my use here in the USA as well as been fooling around with the cockpit to serve my purposes with Reality XP gauges etc. Only question and thought about the airplane however is that I think the side windows in the cockpit arch up a bit more than they should. My source artwork on the repaint is what makes me believe this. Perhaps Im using the wrong model though?

Oversized pics removed due to request to be resized has not been acted upon

(Sorry. My mistake! I will mind the sizing from now on!) - EJ

Also to Peter McClelland, I am delighted to see your name here. I have not seen your participation in some of other forums you used to play in lately...in particular flightsim.com unless I missed you? :welldone:

To the developer of this model I also want to congratulate you on the great interior night lighting for this little bird. However, I have one request if you might consider it... given the open nature of this aircraft, would you consider adding a passenger or two? You can see right into the airplane. Really would be great and would make this a real classic.

Hi Eric :hello:

Glad you like the old girl ;)

The cockpit glazing is a thing of wonder on the Dove mate. I have shots of Srs8's with identical glazing to your shot above and equally, I have shots of 2A's with that glazing. On the other hand, the Herons glazing was pretty much standard from c/n 14001 to the final unit, c/n 14148. ;)

Hi Eric and welcome ;)

Apologies for the delay in catching up with this and many thanks for your kind comments about the model, glad you like her.

With regards to the canopy and glazing, the models represent variations on series 5/6 aircraft. This series still had the early completely clear blown perspex canopy which acted much like a greenhouse. At first sun shades were fitted in the roof of the canopy but later the canopy was painted. This resulted in a variety of 'window' shapes on the unpainted side sections of the canopy...I hope that makes sense.

The later series 8 had a completely new, higher solid cockpit roof with fitted side windows...as DaveB mentioned it's the same as fitted on the Heron.

Here's a photo link to some series 5/6 aircraft with painted canopies:

Series 5/6

This is the series 8 with higher canopy and distinctively shaped side windows:

Series 8

I hope this clears up the mystery ;)

With regards to modeling pax, it did cross my mind.....a couple might not have been enough, a full complement might have been too much so I left it empty  If I'd been clever I could have made them appear at the click of a switch

BTW, that's a very neat paint Eric

ATB,

Derek ;)

Hi Eric and welcome to the Forum. :hello:

Just for your information, I will at some point be going to a museum not far from where I leve to take more photographs of the Doves' cabin as viewed on the Look Behind View command, I did go there last year but unfortunately did not kneel down enough when taking the pics as when I tried them in FS whilst on the the ground the view from the pax windows showed....well....got some lovely views of the tops of the trees instead of the runway. :wall:

If you are patient enough, I will be down there again sometime later on this year and will do some more shots so that the cabin will have a full compliment of seats.

Regards
Nigel.

The only freeware plane I know that lets you add pax with a click or two, is Marcel Kuhnt's BN-2.
Thanks to Mark Beaumont, I can also add a couple of sheep in the back seats
There's a pic of mine somewhere, probably the Visual Flight forum...must hunt it out.
