1-11 rudder

Unless the aircraft is on the ground, I can't get the rudder to do anything, why might this be? I've played with the damper but that doesn't help.

Hi Ant
An obvious one but.. you don't have 'Auto Rudder' (or is it Auto-coord?) selected in Aircraft Realism do you??

Hi Dave,
No, auto rudder isn't selected. So just having a bit of trouble at the moment with last minute straightening up of the aircraft before I touch down.

Yes AP disengaged, making my final approach, need a bit of rudder to swing the nose around, making no difference. Works find to keep the nose on the centreline for take off though.

Hi Ant
OK.. hows about dampers, engaged or disengaged?

It appears disengaged. Tried the damper in both positions and the rudder movement is minimal in both positions, but, when the aircraft is on the ground, I regain full deflection of the rudder. Odd isn't it

On the ground you are getting nosewheel steering not improved rudder I guess

No, the rudder does move fully on the ground. Nose wheel wouldn't help very much at 140knts I imagine!
But yes, if I look at the rudder, it moves fully on the ground, in the air not so well.

Hi Ant..
I think that what Garry is saying is that the rudder and nose gear are linked (in the model) so.. the rudder moves 'in the air' as much as it's supposed to do but because they're linked in the model and the nose gear has a greater degree of turn, you see a greater deflection from the rudder with the aircraft on the ground

Some models are coded so that the rudder shows no deflection with the aircraft on the ground (useful for when all you're doing is turning the nose gear with pedals/joystick) and others are not
