A Navajo Chieften flying in company with an Extra 300 does not have quite the awe of a squadron of Lancasters but needs must......

One thing seeing modern equipement does stress is just what an amazing job the original crews did all those years ago.

Low level without nav aid into a blacked out area they were not welcome in..... All this done by young men who's age alone dictated they did not have years of experience to fall back on

True hero's one and all

Oh good grief yes mate.. no doubting that  When the CBFS 617Sqn did the trip in FSX some years ago, it was traumatic enough and we weren't being shot at (though we lost Eddie - I think it was Eddie - to girlfriend-flak as we crossed the Dutch coast.. JohnP's modem got hit enroute to the second dam and we lost Trev to fatigue over Dortmund on the way back) It left such an impression on me, I don't think I've flown MP again since!!
That makes light of it a little but I've no doubt that we all thought at some point.. how the heck did any of them get there let alone get there and back :-O

Thanks for the link Garry. I missed this particular news article when it was on local TV a week or so ago.

I shall have to make a mental note to look out for the documentary in the autumn.

In my defence, due to using CET, it was past 3 a.m. when I had to quit! That was a fun night, formation at night in a Lanc at low level did make the eyes a bit sore after a couple of hours! Good fun though.
