Hi Guy's..

The 'bikers' have been quiet this week of all weeks.. the IoM TT though I'd like to think they've all been watching the coverage on ITV4  Lot's of highs and lows as is always the way but mention must go to Ian Hutchinson for his clean sweep.. 5 races.. 5 wins :welldone:

Details of all the races, lap times, positions e t c can be found here.. http://www.iomtt.com/TT-2010.aspx

Good for him! :welldone:

One of my biggest regrets is that in all my years of riding a motorcycle I never managed to get over to the Island for TT week. :((

The guy who ran the local biker clothing and accessory shop got over a few times though as he was the pilot on a racing outfit for many years.

As if I'd be doing anything else! What a week!

Absolutely wonderful wins, hard-fought and totally deserved. And in a week of breakdowns from some of the top teams, let's give top credit to Clive Padgett for his machine preparation.

Two of the nicest and hardest-working men in the sport. They make a superb team and well deserve this record. Congratulations to them both.

Ian :)

Yo-de-do :hello:

Yep.. agree with that. In some ways, it seemed Hutch was destined to win all 5. He'd fought off some tremendous challenges in the early races and the senior was set to be a blinder. As it turned out, with all the breakdowns and crashes.. the senior was his easiest victory by far and not the lap by lap scrap we'd expected. All credit though to Clive Padgett and the team for a beautifully prepared bike.

Talking to SWMBO about it last night after the pub had closed, she said 'You're getting to 'that age' when the chances of you being able to go again are getting fewer. Why don't you go on your own.. next year or the year after' :-O I've no idea what she's after but the answer might be YES  If I go next year, it will be 30years since the last time I went.. '81, the year of the 'Black' protest by Honda. Don't think I ever got dry the whole week and my GS1000 came back with a fried clutch 8)

Nutters the lot of them! *Goes back to daydreaming about riding slowly on an R1200GS Adventure*
Fantastic stuff anyway :) I went there ages ago when I was a small child and I remember getting upset and crying because the bikes made such a noise going past!

I would be terrified riding at those sort of speeds on a racetrack when if you come off then you've got nice open space to slide in.... only thing you have there is a nice soft stone wall :worried:

Jeez! The last time I went was '68 or '69 :( I might need a practise lap to get back up to speed

Whilst searching the official TT site for news of Guy Martin and Conor Cummins, I noticed that a second competitor had been killed, Martin Loicht from Austria, in the Supersport 2 race. I still haven't found any info about Conor who was reported on the TV as being critical but stable.

I liked the quote from the A&E doctor who had a message from Guy Martin
I’m pleased to say that Guy Martin has been talking to us throughout his treatment in A&E at Noble’s Hospital
After listening to interviews with Guy, can anybody understand a single word he says? 'Tell me where it hurts.' 'Gobbledygobbledygobbledygook'.'Uh, OK. Two aspirin here, nurse!'

If anybody who thinks F1 is exciting wants to see what we're talking about, there is a double programme on ITV4 on Sunday afternoon at 1630. TT Review parts one and two. Two hours total. Record it! The camera work (especially the high motion) is amazing.

EDIT: Apparently Conor Cummins isn't as serious as first thought. He's got 'arm and leg injuries' but they need to make sure he's stabilised and has no serious internal injuries before treating his limbs.

Ian :)

Hi Ian :hello:

Thanks for the update on Guy and Conor ;)

I love the quote from the team looking after Guy  He does tend to talk at a thousand miles per hour doesn't he  How do you rate your chances today Guy?? We've mate a few small changes to the bike.. the biggest change as been in me! He then climbs off a lap later! 8)

DO watch that review tomorrow afternoon. There is no other race in the world like the IoM TT and it will be well worth the watch

Hi Guys

Not a fan of hutchinson as he didn't slow down for any waved yellow flags and never gets penalised.

Guy Martin is a top bloke and i undertand every word (but i even understand Rab C Nesbitt who to the wife could be speaking cantonese)
whereas Martin was 0.012 kph over the 60 kph pitlane limit and gets a penalty.

Regards
Rick

Hiya Rick :hello:

Do the bikes have pit lane limiters fitted or do they rely on the Mk1 eyeball?? It's impossible to tell from listening :dunno:

Come the time of the Senior.. I very much got the feeling that if Hutchinson had started off on a Raleigh Chopper, the race would still have come to him.. it seemed inevitable. That said, he still had to stay on! His luck was in and thats how records are broken.

Don't get me wrong.. I'm a big fan of Guy Martin and Conor Cummins and it was a great disappointment neither was able to push Hutchinson. It was good to see both Ryan Farquhar and Bruce Anstee on the podium for the Senior. Ryan had ridden well all week but poor old Bruce must have wondered why the hell his Suzuki was so darned slow!

I agree Hutchy has the skills but just not a fan ;)
