I used to eagerly look forward to finding out what was in the "Eagle" each week. The cutaway drawings in there inspired my interest in things mechanical.

The "Eagle" - was eagerly looked forward to every week and should now be given the status of a national treasure!! Inspired many from would be Foreign Legionnaires - Luck of the Legion, comics and cartoonists - Pugwash and Co, private detectives - Harris Tweed, policemen - PC 49, Cowboys - Riders of the Range and future Bishops - The story of St Paul. Of course we must not forget all the artists and engineers inspired by the centrefold cutaway colour drawings and the pilots and astronautical engineers who can trace their interest back to "Dan Dare - pilot of the Future".

Dan & Co also appeared as characters in 15 minute episodes on Radio Luxemburg Mon - Friday evenings at about 7:15pm(?)

The C-130, Harrier, B-17, HP42 and Concorde were all in a book I used to read as a kid. Still got it somewhere. Think it was aptly named "Aircraft Cross-sections" or some such. Interesting stuff.
