Disable FSX scenery

Within FSX, would it be possible to deactivate all other scenery other than the Australia and Oceania regions but not remove the required files?
I have done this in FS2004 without any problems at all but wondering is possible to do it in FSX.

What is the point of doing that...Scenery is not active unless you go there and if you are not removing the files, where is the gain?

Indeed Peter. I guess the only gain would be if AD only flies there and is desperately short of disc space. Seems a drastic measure though

Scenery can be turned on and off within FSX just by turning on or off the X in the scenery list. Just the same as in FS9, except that you don't need to restart the sim.
Selecting and deselecting helped me work out where the problem was in having Gibraltar scenery and a different person's AFCAD file and end up with a great looking Gib to hunt Ark Royal down from.

My impression is it is an attempt to try and save HD space, which I feel if space is that much of an issue there is little point in trying to run FS.X

Perhaps I should have explained better, is it possible to activate the scenery areas I don't fly in. Not removing the files as such.

Theres no point in that AD as FS (9 & X) only load the current area, i.e. they don't load the whole world for each flight

No problem mate. Are you experiencing slow load times etc? There might be other things you can try.
