Trident landing light

Hello everyone, :)
I'm experiencing the great Trident of Mr. Maltby. Is a pleasure to perform an autoland in the fog ... B-)
Just a note about the landing light on the ground, is too bright for me.
Do you have the same feeling?
Is there a way to soften the light?
Thanks in advance!

Hi Fran :hello:

Are you taxiing from and to the runway using the landing lights and taxi lights?? You should be able (for VA flights) to taxi using only the taxi lights and these alone don't 'whiteout' the ground so much :)

I always use just taxy lights on the ground as I find landing lights white out too much

This seems to be a general problem, not just Trident, so perhaps the fault lies with the .FX bimaps.

Hi Dave, :)
I use landing lights just entering the runway, not during taxi. Taxi lights are right, to me.
Entering the runway and switching landing lights it seems there is an UFO just over my head watching me... :hide: :)
Garry, I don't remember the problem with one-eleven, I will test it.

But, at the end of all, it's just a little detail!

I can't check atm as I don't have much loaded but I certainly know what you mean Fran

It would be lice to perhaps nail this one as up until now I've been "putting up" with it but really it would be nice to see a bit of relief there :)

Thanks for raising it as it, if nothing else , gets checked out, peace of mind even if no solution :)

TBH.. this is a long-term problem with flightsim in general. Can't say how LL's are in FSX as I don't use it enough but for as long as I can remember, many runways/taxiways get completely washed out on the majority of FS models without taxi lamps. I couldn't tell you how many times I've missed a turnoff because of this!

It's like driving in fog on full beam :worried:

This is why I'm thinking (honestly I am ), that it might just be down to the .FX bmp being too bright or something

Currently, with no graphics facility I am unable to check or try anything out. :((

Hello Mate..

I've just had a look at the Trident, VC10, Vanguard, Bristol Freighter, CS707, CS130J and CLS742 around LHR and all of my lights look particularly dim at the moment 8) A few of points to note though..

The ground textures/lighting at UK2000 LHR Extreme are rather more realistic than at any default airport.

I do not use the standard (default) halo.bmp.

I do not use the standard (default) env maps.

On 2 of the models (the Vanguard and CLS 742) I couldn't see any sign of lighting from within the aircraft (that is.. inside looking out) which I know is an option when compiling models anyway. On the CS707.. while the lamps didn't look too bright in the 2D panel, using the VC gave them a rather milky look and I'd not want to be landing this aircraft at night in fog!
