Its idiots like that who make it more difficult for the rest of us to see and enjoy steam on the mainline. I see people doing stupid things regularly to try and get there shot. And what is that bloke doing waving a tripod about anyway? and lots of them are way too close to the platform edge as well, there is a yellow line there for a reason. The steam locomotive is Britannia class 70013 Oliver Cromwell.

When a pilot concentrates too hard on a strafing run and flies into the ground isn't it called "Target Fixation"? The guy with the video camera had a very bad case of target fixation. It is almost an aricle of faith with some railway photographers that:

A. Carrying a camera guarantees that nothing bad can happen to you.

B. Carrying a camera nullifies any signs preventing access.

I've seen trespassing photographers get soaked and nearly scalded by standing close to injector overflows.

The best action against trespassing photographers I saw was on the Settle - Carlisle line when a farmer rounded a group up with his sheepdog.

They are all a bunch of d***heads who are out for giving us all a bad name. I mean what is the deal with trying to get the perfect photo or video? Going by what gets posted on some forums most of them are rubbish anyway. I myself almost never take a camera because I'd rather take the experience in instead of buggering off the second it goes past and viewing it at home on a bit of 6x4 paper. What's the obsession with hi-vis jackets too? They seem to love them even if they are in the middle of a field, platform or carpark lol. I must look like an (outsider) because I don't have a camera, hi-vis jacket or beard and I'm with my lady friend because I always get told to shut up when the train comes even though The video camera on a tripod is clearly visible and we know better. I should start up the bike without it's DB reducer fitted and blip the throttle just to spite the sad gits. The next person to say that will end up on the track.

I agree totally about Hi Viz clothing, what is a train driver supposed to do? He can't swerve to avoid some body on the line. The best Hi Viz photographer I saw had " Silence! I am recording video " painted on the back of his big orange coat.

I'm afraid I don't have much of an interest in diesels but I think it is probably a class 37, as for the other train, modern rubbish! Hopefully that diesel isn't actually pushing and is just there to shunt the stock about at the destination or provide cover in the small chance that ollie did break down.

I do like to take photos of steam specials but don't go to stupid and dangerous lengths to get them and idiots like these really annoy me
There is nothing to beat just watching a steam locomotive hard in the collar at 75mph just watching it fly through.
