RAF A330

Post by J0hn »

I know it's not 'classic' (it might be, one day ;) ) but I just spotted this on the key aero site:

http://www.key.aero/view_news.asp?ID=24 ... n=military

I have the CLS A330/340 and picked up an RAF skin for it from AVSIM - if anyone's interested.

Yeh.. they don't look bad do they. I saw a Canadian AF Scarebus at Brize yonks ago and thought how well the low-vis grey suited it :)

Tks for the HU on that paint JD ;)

You're most welcome :)

There is a small omission on that repaint. The VC textures are AWOL, so it's necessary to copy the texture.cfg file from one of the original texture folders into the RAF texture folder - otherwise the VC is very dark!

Here are some screenies I just took on run-up at Marham, the paint looks very accurate:

Hi JD..

The 'blue/grey' looks two-tone in your screenies mate.. low vis above the cheat and someother colour below. The real one is definitely the same grey all over *-) Could be a trick of the screenie I guess :)

Oh.. I only clicked on the first thumbnail then got attacked by 'Foxy bingo . com' so didn't look at the others ;)

"The first of 14 aircraft, following the flight-test programme it will be delivered in late 2011 to the AirTanker consortium that will operate the RAF contract."

*-)

Whats the 'AirTanker consortium' when its at home ?

Nah, it's just FSX playing tricks again - it's the same shade of grey. The view from the front shows this clearly.

I'm sorry to hear that the thumbnail links are accosting visitors with spam - looks like I'll be sticking to Photobucket in future, rather than imageshack, which I only started using recently.

Hi all,

I like it and cant wait to see them in use, shame its replacing the VC-10, tristars but I like the A330 :help:

just three questions though will it stay with the Airbus Military logo on it and is it RR powered

and any of the VC-10 pilots on here be flying them

1) I don't think so James. It's loud and proud on that one as it's the first.
2) I'd like to think the RAF aircraft will have RR Trents
3) It's a natural progression for our current VC10 pilots :)
