Good news for Duxford! Just hope it doesn't adversely affect attendance at future shows.

Maybe pre paid tickets only will be the way forward.

I was told some people who had pre-paid and bought well in advance were turned away. They will get refunds.

It's an idea but I wonder how many of the general public decide to go on the day after seeing what the weather is like etc.? Might actually hurt more than it helps *-)

And the fact that they fork out money first hand, then the cost of going and then being turned away isnt good... Also surly the prepaid tickets are included into the capicty limit and they would be aloud in???

Apparently on Anglia News last night one of the Duxford Managers was explaining why they had to turn ticket holders away, not sure if it was H&S bull or car park capacity excuse they used.

Clearly their planner needs firing.

Hmm

What I meant by prepaid was only prepaid....so they sell up to capacity and no more for the main gates

A separate less convenient gate could be used to sell up to the amount of non prepaid tickets sold and no more.......

Being turned away with already having bought a ticket is unforgivable and to use an old fashioned saying befitting the event.....not very British

I got there around 9 am and the traffic was starting to build even then. At around 1 pm they announced the gates had shut.

DarrenL, I can't see that they were doing anything different from normal with regards to handling traffic and getting people parked and into the show. It just seems that capacity was reached, and it certainly was noticeable inside the museum; never known it so packed, and I've been going there for years. I didn't see the manager on the telly, but you can't blame him for so many people wanting to attend the show and Duxfords car parks being of finite size. :)

On another forum, someone was stuck in traffic from 09:40 two miles away and four and an half hours later, with 50 yards to go, he was turned away due to a full carpark.
