Dakota livery help needed

HI, I know it's not British, but....

I'm going to buy the Revell 1/48 Dakota at some stage, and I need some help in choosing the colour scheme.

Basically, I want it to be in a mainly all metal scheme, to add a touch of 'nostalgia' as a lot of them were basically unpainted in the 1930s/40s. But I quite like the idea of a blue stripe, so I thought of doing the Dutch Dakota association example. But I was wondering if there were any other liveries similar to that one.

Did RAF Daks ever operate in the same scheme as Air Atlantiques Devon (early Transport Command livery) as that is obviously a similar and very nice scheme, or...if they didn't, could I cheat and paint it as that anyway?
Any suggestions would be great!

The DDA liver was KLM

I think they always had a white top in Transport Command.

For blue with lots of metal there is always Air France....

I had the Monogram 1/48 a while back and it needed a lot doing to it to make it civil as in that scale bits you can skim over in 1/72 and ignore in 1/144 become vital to change

Monogram is Revell re-marketed. Don't know if it's a new mould.

What are the differences between the C-47 and DC-3? The only ones I can think of is the rear doors (double for C-47) and maybe undercarriage doors and possibally engine cowlings?

I'm not woried about the interior cabin as you can't really see in there anyway.

The DDA one (and other civvie ones now flying) have the military double doors anyway, so might skip that one!

Monogram has been owned by revel for many years

Sometimes they put kits out as Monogram, Sometimes as Revell and sometimes as Monogram-Revell

This is the same model, but it was Monogram when had it which I mention in case there has been any sort of upgrade to it since.

The doors don't necessarily need altering unless it's like the BEA Pionair which were modified by Scottish Aviation.....most civil used DC3 that were straight civilianised ex C-47 with the double door.

The single pax door was fitted in some military..C-53

Cabin windows engines exhausts things like that and aerials.....most civil had a tail cone which was standard but removed on the military version for glider towing.can't remember what the model had.

The big engine mods with undercarriage doors apply to the versions which had the maximised kit fitted. These included Air France but it was not until later....they were standard at first.
