I'm glad to say Sharjah had changed quite a bit last time I was there  Smashing bits of film Derek and an excellent find ;) I'll not be posting what the morse code was mate as I could hardly hear the soundtrack let alone distinguish morse characters (I'm on the office pc which has cr@p built in monitor speakers). It took me most of the first film to fignure why I had no sound at all (SWMBO had muted the speakers.. buy her a monitor with speakers and she doesn't like hearing pc's make noise!) 8)

The sound isn't brilliant..I did try to catch the messages but my pencil was blunt and I didn't have any message pads handy

Lovely stuff, Del, and yes, those were the days

Any one else feel a little sense of longing when they watch such things ? I remember my Eleven Plus exam papers being sent down to Edinburgh Field by the education officer of the Far East Air Force, in Singapore. The Far East Air Force...we actually had enough aircraft for another airforce ! ( And they arranged my exams 11,000 miles away from the English education system.)

I remember looking up admiringly at my dad in his K.D.s in the main post office building in Singapore, then going to look out on the Singapore river which, in those days, was filled with sampans . I remember a little Chinese boy looking up at me, and there I was at the ripe old age of 8, feeling so haughty and superior.

The last vestiges of Empire, and what are we now ? An island off the north west coast of a Europe that seems to have forgotten all about us and what we were.

Sorry gents, its the wine talking. :(

I was fascinated to see that Hanno had leading edge slats/droops on the upper wing . I had never realised that such ( manually selected ) devices were present before the jet era , although some light aircraft did ( I think ) have automated slats

I thought they were automatic on the HP.42

I don't know if it's true but I was told HP invented them *-) :dunno:
