UK2000 LHRXtreme v2

Hi Guy's

I had a near death disaster this morning when my scenery.cfg got corrupted by a combination of LHRXtremev2 trying to install and KasperskyAV2010 trying to stop it. I've managed to get the sim up and running again and have reinstalled the LHRXtremev1. I presume that LHRv1 has to be uninstalled before v2 is installed (this is what I did this morning) but can't find anything to say this is so. Looking in my UK2000 folder, there was no sign of v2 (though all the folders were there.. empty) so it wasn't clear if what I was seeing was the remnants of the v1 install or v2 8)

Basically.. if any of you have LHRXtreme v2 for FS9.. did you uninstall v1 first or just go ahead and a) did the v2 overwrite or b) did it sit in a new file structure? I noticed that when I got the full version of UK2000 Manchester Xtreme, it sat in a new set of folders leaving the 'free' version untouched *-)

Hi Tony :hello:

OK mate.. thanks for that. I've been scared to try again just in case it all went boobies :worried: IF LHRv2 is of the same quality as Manchester (and I've no reason to believe it won't be).. then it'll be worth the fiver upgrade. I can't believe just how good Manchester is.. in the level of detail, how it displays and how well it runs on my 'non-rocketship' pc ;)

Dave I think you will be more than hapy. Yesterday as a quick test I reset my CPU to stock 3.1ghz dual core and did a real time flight into Heathrow with full weather and AI traffic and I wa getting 30 plus FPS no stutters. I also downloaded the low res textures for Heathrow which also helps. They are as good as standard just dxt 3 rather than 32 bit.
He has a knack of making airports realistic without killing the PC :)

Hello Mate :hello:

After your advice, I removed LHRXv1.. stopped Kaspersky in it's tracks.. then installed v2 with static a/c and the usual humdrum airport traffic. While it doesn't seem to run as silky smooth as Manchester, it runs ok with the odd stutter. I may try the dxt3 textures at some point to see if this improves FR's ;)
TBH.. I actually prefer the v1 scenery.. not because anything is wrong with v2 but the changes included in v2 to reflect how the airport looks now make LHR look less like I'm used to seeing it. I know that's obvious but to put it another way.. it looks less like the LHR I want to see. Another example of me keeping up with the times but clinging to the past is Guernsey/Jersey. When I installed UK2000 Part 1 on this system, I only patched it as far as the point where the afcads were sorted and the airports didn't change. All the other parts (2 - 8) got patched but I like the old GUE not the monstrosity that sits there now ;)

I'm sure I'll get used to LHRv2 in the fullness of time.. either with or without the dxt textures

Cheers ;)

Dave a I think you have a valid point, sometimes old is better...well thats what I tell the young women at work, but they don't believe me anyway
I would like to see things like an updated BHX with the huge new pier and when that gets done it will be worth while. I like the modern JSY and GSY and my big hope is one day Gary will update these and also someone will do photo type scenery for FS9 for the Islands... I like dreaming

Dreaming is good for you and it costs nothing  I spent Thursday evening in the pub after we'd closed dreaming of what I was going to do with the £82m Euro Lottery win I was going to get the following day. It goes without saying my disappointment was profound by the same time on Friday :(( Maybe if I'd bought a ticket my chances would've been better but there you go

Just upgraded to Heathrow V2 this evening. Dispite having read this thread I forgot to disable Kaspersky before installing
Result: Kaspersky deleted my scenery.cfg and the UK2000 installer
Luckily I had a backup scenery.cfg from a couple of days ago, so all is not lost.
:stupid:
