...of my Northern Hemisphere Cirumnavigation of the World in the IFly BBJ3. This sequence starts at Narita, Tokyo, Japan and finishes at McLeland Field, Alaska:-

I'm just about ready for pushback here...The baggage loaders, rear steps and the Jetway are all backing away and the tractor is positioning to the nosewheel.

The very detailed sequence can be seen here:-

Thanks for looking :)

What a wonderful sequence, Peter. You deserve a few days off now!

The seats on all the 747s and 777s slide back and out and if I remember correctly, they are electrically assisted due to their weight. The EO's seat on the 747 classics was definitely electrically assisted as he had to slide it back, turn it and slide forwards to manage the throttles. It used to annoy the hell out of the first class passengers who were sleeping directly below!

I notice that even McLeland Field suffers the age-old efficiency problem of waiting for steps after chocks! Things quickly get slack when the manager's away.

Thank you very much for sharing the adventure with us.

Ian :)

Thanks for the comments Ian,

I've never been in a Boeing flight deck seat so that took me by surprise. Certainly didn't have those on Tridents as then there would have been no room for my briefcase to the left of my seat...I seem to remember that we got back the into run back seat by stepping on the middle of it!

Yes, I recall the painful wait for steps on many occasions  I'm seriously considering writing to Oliver Pabst and purchasing an AES set for McLeland Field from him *-)

Probably would have been better off on a stand and using the airstairs. If you don't mind going out in the cold, that is. :)

Mark, I don't think these BBJ3s have airstairs. I remember when I started on Vanguards there were no Jetways and we had airstairs at both front and back doors. Then the jetways came in and pushback, so they took the airstairs off the front door :dunno: Life was so straight forward before we had to pushback to start each flight 8)
