I'm sure that would make one young chap very happy. Unfortunately, a great many of us here wouldn't be around to celebrate with him

I prefer to await 20th August 2013... seems a bit more realistic...

Oh and here's a nice birthday surprise I got from youtube yesterday, making me stumble over this 7min film I hadn't seen before...

Have you seen this one Nick..

It's not the best bit of film I've seen but this is our 1-11 G-ASYD arriving at Brooklands. Unfortunately, no plans were ever made to keep her in running condition so this was very probably the last time the aircraft was 'live'. If you notice any similarity between this and DM's 1-11 flightdeck.. it is not by coincidence as I took all of the shots for the panel (non BEA) in 'SYD
Not unrelated.. our Vanguard (see sig) is 50yo next year (2011). Not sure what we're going to do but I hope she'll be clean!

Dave, I very well know it, I watched this video at least twenty times!!
However I wasn't aware it's the aircraft that served as the template for the virtual one I fly so often!!!
Great to know we owe a special "chapeau" to G-ASYD then! I'll take the fly-by-light-SYD on a virtual trip next time, I promise...
Have you already read yesterday's review-of-2010 by Peter? For me it's amazing how he keeps tracking the path of the last 8 airworthy examples...
