This may not be the right section for this one but... click on this link http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.html for an automated tweak of your FSX config file. The process is simple enough - upload your config file and the site will examine it for tweaks to improve performance in FSX. Some changes are made automatically whilst others (not in the config) are advised. When done download the config file and replace your old one. Having done it - it works! Performance is substantially improved. The site does store a backup of your config file but you can always create a local one if not happy with the results.

You're right Dave - I should have been paying more attention! Still for me at least there has been a significant improvement; possibly because my config was !£%!£ up in the first instance?

I read an article Phil Taylor as well as a few others wrote and I would like to compare it.

Hi Joe, I can't remember to be honest - it's a one time thing, but I do remember it adding the Himem fix. I can send you my config file so you could have a trawl through to see what you can pick up. If you do view my config and to put it into context my basic machine specs are:

Intel Q6600 overclocked to 3.24Ghz
4Gb of RAM
Nvidia 460 vid card with 1Gb of RAM
Windows 7 64bit

If you want to trawl though my config file let me have your email address and I'll send it along.

PS I'm away for a few days from 18:00GMT so you won't get a response until late on Sunday afternoon if I don't hear from you before I leave.

I ran it a while ago and got very good results, this is what it changed. I put aircraft shadows and building shadows back in though.



I never knew about the vsync fix although I do run FS Limiter now as the vsync fix caused my fps to jump between 115 and 20, set to unlimited in game and with FSLimiter fixed at 30 I get very good frame rates now even on the heaviest of loads.

I might give this a go, but I know next to nothing about the inner workings of my computer-what the heck does it mean by threads? It gives options up to 16, but I've no idea what its on about
