How many HS748's are active in the UK and how many are preserved?

Hi AD..

I don't know of any still in service and there are none preserved to the best of my knowledge.. Andovers, yes but not 748's. They all got grounded a while back due to being maintained poorly by the operator.. if I remember right *-)

Almost but not quite the same thing.. I happened to go outside today, for what I can't remember.. heard an unusual noise so looked up to see the Boscombe Andover.. I guess doing something or other at Benson! What a lovely sight and sound :tunes:

I saw it back in Sept and it was indeed a welcome sound.

At a distance when the prop becomes dominant it can alost have a Tyne sound about it :tunes:

Yes.. much deeper than you'd imagine. At Duxford a couple of years ago, 2 KLM F27's where there.. not displaying unfortunately.. and they were leaving just as I was making my way toward the bike and home. The high pitched whine at taxi speeds was almost unbearable.. even for me with a duff ear  In the air.. they lose that and take on a warmer.. deeper sound :tunes: Granted, the Andover has different props which will make a different noise but it's still a lovely noise

Cannot get the link but if you go to Google Street View and type in this address

Skylark Hotel Southend Aviation Way,

Take a walk down the road and there is a 748 parked nicely near some other aircraft

Better still, go to the 3rd aircraft down!!
