Yes it certainly shows how big the old Herk is when shown in that environment,

I would love to have 40 ft of the front half of it in my garden!

Can't see a date but seems unlikely to be a different one

There are currently two that are being stripped and transported like this but I think only one has moved so far.

I think there are others to follow but not certain.

Convoi Exceptionnel ? Another French aircraft carrier ??

Either they've run out of life or there is a desperate need for the spares.

All the C1K's are being retired over the coming months.some say May, some say next year

The two being stripped atm are for extensive spares recovery..maybe they'll sell the spares on to other Air Forces??

Although the C-130K was a pretty unique variation being an Anglicised version each one delivered to Marshalls, stripped and refitted before entering service.

They have been a few sold on so maybe they will generate custom.

Well those that remain are moving to Brize from about May, as Lyneham closes in September.

That's why they're clearing out the already grounded ones out now

It's a pity the old ones days are numbered

It seems there has been some debate as to saving the Comet on the gate at Lyneham

Some are saying it's now been saved but apparently the corrosion was so bad no one could take it on...but maybe that has changed now.

It was in poor condition when it went to Lyneham from Halton and obviously the extra years have not helped regardless of any work that was done.
