Wow, this is going to be an interesting one to get out safely. Looks like they may not have messed up the belly on that culvert/footing there under the belly, and they'd be good not to do it while pulling the plane out either. :)

This would also be the reason that you don't powerback without a spotter and very good lighting. :)

Given the remoteness for a major repair and the availability of cheap 737-200's ready to fly away, I think this ones value is in parting out.

It's a 30 year old jet that has been extensively used so I would have thought it's time was fairly close anyway.

But who know's.......it might even be flyable with a bit of patching to somewhere where they can repair it.

The Air UK F.27 shown recently here landing with a main gear retracted was temp repaired enought to fly back to Norwich albeit for scrapping. :(

You'd think, but there's still F.28's and F.27's floating about on active rosters in Africa, so you'd be surprised what they'd just fix up and keep going with.

As it is, the damage right now may be (none) and if they pull it out right, it may be (none) still. :)

This might relate...
I recently enjoyed this video as a Teaser to the Gabon Express World Air Routes Series DVD.
Escpecially the Caravelle parts are spectacular...

Enjoy,

Nick

PS: Gabon Express had to shut down for safety reasons in 2004 after losing one of their 748... :worried:
