A nice bit of flying that could only be done in a handful of aircraft.. the Cub being perfectly suited.

Nice bit of film Rich ;)

I am not surprised by it

I had a friend who owned a home on a backwater of the Tennessee river at Scottboro Alabama - it was a short stretch of water with trees
on both sides....He preferred to land there than on the main river because of the amount of water craft traffic -- it seems when he tried to land every motor boat on the river headed straight at him.....his secret was the same as this guy --- slip it in right above the stall then hold the stick back to get aerodynamic/hyrdodynamic braking.

Oh yes he also had a 65 horse J3 on EDO 1320s

Erm...well....just because so far he has not had an accident does not make it safe. The Cub is a lovely aeroplane, but it has a very low wing loading , and those trees are ace for generating unpredictable turbulence .....

Have you also seen the Alaska STOL competitions, there's quite a few videos on youtube. This is one of them - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rxg0ESxbLww

This one is very short - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPSElw8qEsI

Wind helps, unless you are the pilot and had a curry the night before.
