A tale of disappointment..

Been watching a nice little BEA Vanguard leaflet on ebay all week. There had been half a dozen bids and it was sitting at £4.25. I left it with an hour to run this evening then popped back with 30mins to go to see how it was doing. Err.. in that time, it had gone from £4.25 to £41.87 (no typo.. this in one go) then £54.87, £58.98, £74.99, £80.99 and finally £90.00. £4.25 to £90 in 30mins :-O

All I can say is that I hope from the bottom of my heart that it gets lost in the post

My apologies if one of you here is the flash git with the bankroll!

£90?!?!?!

That's why I never go on EBay without my Grandad's 5lb engineering hammer close to my mouse finger :worried:
Commiserations (sp.) on your 'loss' DB :((

Rgds,

Colin

Cheers  I do feel it as a loss too. I was gonna be 'flash' and bid up to a tenner at the last moment and fully expected it to be with me by the end of the week. Disappointment no.3 in a week! I was watching a 1:400 scale Vanguard yesterday that shot up to nearly £40.. out of my range (by a couple of quid.. I won't mention what I just bought from abroad :-# ) so went to buy a-n-other that had been sitting at 'buy now' for nearly £26 only to find some tw@t had brought it! There it was.. gone! :wall: Think I'll borrow your grandads hammer in future

Oh good , now I don't have to worry the end of the world has come,..... whew....

..... never mind me Dave I had a string of near apocalyptic events happen lately, and figured if you did , it must be the  end.

Last week I was watching a VC10 Performance Manual on e-bay last week, after 5 days it had reached £7.00, in the last 30 secs it from that to £82.00 (Tonks?). I put a bid in in double figures but that was too steep for me.

I must admit a couple of years ago I paid £60 for a BOAC VC10 Flight Manual, but I got that as a Christmas present

That sounds like a Tonks trick but I doubt it was him. He'd more likely be the seller

£80 is the steepest I've paid for a manual.. a Vickers Valiant PN (inc Flight Ref charts in the rear pocket). Couldn't see me doing that again! (I've a replica of Colin's grandads hammer ready to go) I was in the archive at Brooklands a few weeks ago and stumbled over a set of TSR2 manuals. Wonder what they'd go for on ebay! :-O
