Just bought this

Hi folks,

Well aside from aviation. Something else that I was always fascinated by as a child was trains. Both real and models.

In the late 1970's and early 1980's you were either a Hornby or Scalextric kid. I made my choice and always remember the bits of track and train I used to have.

Sadly growing up we lived in a small house that had very little room for a good layout.

Don't ask me why but I saw this on eBay the other day and loved it.

It took me back several years and its gonna look great next to the other transport models I have in the office.

Love the way the previous owner went to work to give it a weathered look. Especially the dirty bogies. Just a bit of a shame theres no driver.

I think one day when I've retired, I'll build a huge layout in the loft like the chap in the old yellow pages advert.

I do believe Rod Stewart is into model railways. You can just imagine the sort of set up he has, with all his money,lucky devil lol

Could never learn to love the old green loco's.

Probably because they were before my time and never associated myself or physically saw them.

Mind you it does'nt stop me loving classic aircraft that I have never seen in the flesh so make of that what you will.

Nice model and the weathering is superb,

I moved house a few years ago and had to give up my model railway as i don't have the room, i had LGB running round the garden into my shed and used to enjoy watching it run round in the snow in the winter, a great hobby, so now i use Microsoft Train Sim when i get the "train urge" if ever i get those numbers up i won't be buying a Ferrari i'll go back to my trains

You want to collect those trains Eddie while you can mate as by the time you retire you won't be able to afford them the way the prices are getting,

Your right about the prices of these models. It seems ridiculous now.

Seen a few second hand ones swap hands for £100+

I never remember them being that expensive.

Hornby and Lima stuff is getting very collectable.

Apparently my Father and Grandfather had to wait until I'd gone to bed to start assembling the layout that included a working colour light signal for electrically operated points. They didn't realise the time until they heard the chink of the milk bottles as the milkman came up the path.

Imagine that, a milk delivery on Christmas Day.
