Where would the best place to look be? I'm hoping for something from a Trident / VC10 / Vanguard / Belfast / Victor ideally.

Aircraft Parts - A strange request
Having recently got engaged and planning the wedding next year, the question of rings has come up. Easy for Luce as she know what shes looking for, but I'm not much of a ring man TBH and we're trying to do this on a budget, baby Daisy is a little money burning machine lol. Anyway, I got thinking... A ring is just a metal washer, or coupling if you like. So, I was thinking if I could get a piece of metal from one of the Aircraft I really like, I could get it machined into a ring? I think this is a great idea, and Misus to be thinks its good too, but having just looked on ebay there doesn't seem to be m,uch in the way of "bits" about. I wouldn't want to be bastardising an important part of history either, so it just needs to be some nondescript part of metal, that is not likely to rust!

There's a certain Vanguard parked at Brooklands that you might be able to sneak aboard and nick some bits off of.

I can liberate a bit of aircraft ally off Ajax no problemo. Will take the j/hacksaw with me next week
Is a/c aluminium ok or were you looking at something more exotic? I guess depleted uranium weights are out of the question

I suspect the uranium might cause a bit of a reaction
I was thinking alloy or stainless steel. Actually, alloy would be quite reactive too, now I hadn't thought about which metal in enough detail. What metals were used in any piping?

Stainless is a bit heavy Ben and I doubt very much if there's any in what's left of Ajax anyway. Vanguards have titanium firewalls but with only a nose section left, there aren't any firewalls either
Pipework.. again, not much of that left.
Have a think and let me know
