ENB plugin for FSX/FS9 screenshots

I used this once (just the once) on rFactor a year or two ago. Didn't like it got rid of it. But I found what was said to be a good config for ATI cards to be used by FSX or FS9 so I thought I would give it another go. But I still don't get it. It looks as unrealistic as it always has done and I still prefer the crisper colours of natural FSX.
ENB makes it look like this.
Bigger ENB & non-ENB image links below to click on so the details isn't lost.

What do you think?
(Wasn't sure about The Virtual Spanner or the Gallery but as there are some pretty pictures I tossed a coin and the Gallery lost

)

I'd have to agree Darren.. the ENB shots don't do it for me either. The first shot in particular shows a washed out aircraft and an under exposed scenery. Not even native FSX looks that bad

I think the ENB'ishness comes from the games consoles, it was done for one of the GTA games. So lots of bloom effects and lens flare kinds of effects, which the human eye never sees.
I suppose in certain atmospheric conditions it might work, but not at low level, when you can see the ground, when you can see clouds or when you are looking at an aircraft........which doesn't leave much

I didn't like it when I first tried it, but after some tweaking, I think it looks better with than without.
Saying that, I don't use it ATM as I find it makes FSX more prone to crashing.

I might give it another go. Well, when I say a go I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing and no idea what all the settings do in the config. So I'll just change different bits as and when I see someone else's recommendations.
Shouldn't be a problem, it'll only go one of two ways.

Thank you, I've now got 7 to look at
One might just work. Or I might work out what it does by seeing the results of each one. The one I've got in at the moment isn't bad, just a bit dark at the moment.
Before
After
I'll have a look at yours tomorrow.
thanks again.

Hmm.. still liking the first rather than the second mate. The lighting on MH434 isn't bad DG but it all looks a little dark. Thank goodness for FS9

Agreed DB
The Spit is too dark on my set up and Darrens two the first is superior in both the aeroplane and the scenary

Getting better, that works very well straight from the box, but still a bit dark on my ATi card, but I might have less to tweak. Thanks.
Main thing is there's no light aura around the models, edges are clear and you can still make out the clouds.
Normal.
DaveG's settings.
