Handley Page Hampden
Virtavia are releasing the "flying suitcase" for FS2004 & FSX. It's a MkI and comes with 3 paint jobs (1939, 1942, and a 1943 Coastal Command Met Flight).

Re: Handley Page Hampden
Cheers John
I bought the Alpha release when it came out. It didn't dot all my i's or cross all my t's for that matter but I didn't have a Hampden and it remains the only one I have. If the real one was as sluggish, I'm surprised anyone was brave enough to fly it! Truth to tell.. it very probably was!

I had the FS9 version, and downloaded the ...ahem...FSX version just before Alphasim disappeared. If you read the advert, it says the FSX VC is non-mousable, which is true. You have to bring up the pop-up panels in order to do anything, but its workable. The prop textures have the usual problem with clouds, but I have some replacement ones that work very well. Really it should be marketed as an FS9 model, with some FSX capability
There is a case for saying this is good because its the only one we have ( or are ever likely to ), but its just the sort of aircraft I enjoy in MSFS, and so I can happily accept the FSX model's shortcomings. It was what Alphasim did best; the unusual, the unloved and, by their own sales figures, the unwanted. A great shame, really.
Anyway, here she is in FSX at Mr Garwood's Duxford:

Don't forget that Ted Cooke did a Hampden a couple of years back - that is still looks good in FS9 (havent tried porting it across into FSX yet though - in fact not had that much success doing that so I try to avoid it!)

If the good old days were as bad as today - then we are up to our necks in it!
Re: Handley Page Hampden
My apologies to Ted. I didn't know he'd done one.

Re: Handley Page Hampden
I bought the Hampden for FS9 from AlphaSim as soon as it came out and I've thoroughly enjoyed it. I don't use VCs and I was quite happy with the 2d cockpit. I was also impressed enough with the sound that I never searched for something better. I'm glad to see Virtavia is selling her now.
