I downloaded it the other day. I've always liked IE8 but generally use Chrome as it's quicker and easier. I was a bit disappointed with IE9, though. It's definitely quicker than IE8 and I'm sure it has increased security. But ...

I can't put my finger on it, but I think the interface seems rather old-fashioned and square tabs feel like W95! After using Chrome it also seems rather complicated with too many options hidden around it.

It's probably me - I've got too used to Chrome now.

It was released at the start of the month I think. I like it as there is nothing I hate more than tool bars and buttons. Its more compatible than any other browser and much more of the screen is used to deliver the webpage, so gets my vote.

Ben
You are so right , I hate toolbars with - a passion! I recently fixed a computer that had 5. 5 toolbars. The browser window barley showed halfway down the screen.
I asked the customer, "do you ever use this line ( pointing to the search line) for looking stuff up". And he says, what do you mean? I just go to google.

never mind..... programs & features ... yada yada..

I've been waiting for a broader responce to IE9 , thanks for the heads up.

Gents...

Performance wise, I don't think there's anything to choose between IE9 and Chrome although IE8 was a bit slower so I used Chrome a bit more often and I guess I've got used to it, now.

For simple, clean lines and lack of toolbars it's difficult to beat especially as google search is integrated into the address box.

I guess it's just personal preference, but I now find IE a bit, er, complicated :worried:

Sorry to resurrect this one but I'm having a problem with IE9 and wonder if anyone else has the same. I've never had issues with IE upgrades before. Maybe that's because I don't push the browser too far. I don't particularly like it but I don't like the others maybe apart from Firefox. Anyhow I've been getting a lot of frozen windows from IE9 when moving backwards or forwards. They resolve if I hang about for minutes :-O but if going back I click the "back" button again it takes me back 2 pages (not surprisingly) immediately. It also seems to have changed the way Windows Mail displays the non-text parts of emails.

Hi Andy, I had something similar in an early beta, and from what I remember it was a pluggin causing the problem, I can't remember which one though, possibly an old version of Java or Flash? As for Windows Mail, its been dead for a while, id suggest live mail, same idea as Windows mail but more up to date.

Hi Ben. I hadn't considered that plugins might be causing it. Better check their current status. As for upgrading my mail program well live mail might be more up to date but I never liked Hotmail and live looks like an updated version. Anyhow I like living in the past ;) hence my taste in aircraft (like those here) and old railway locos etc. Thanks anyway.
