This happened in the blink of an eye.
Could have been a lot worse. Especially if it was a biker.
Just shows how quickly something can happen.
Keep safe out there folks.

Similar thing happened to me a few weeks ago on the M9 outside Falkirk in horrendous rain. I was just overtaking a line of trucks when a large object smacked into the windscreen directly in front of my face. Thankfully toughened glass lived up to it's name and whatever it was bounced clear over the car and into the murk behind me.
I have no idea what it was that hit the windscreen, it was brick size and could have been a wooden or rubber chock used to stop freight moving on a lorry flatbed, whatever it was, it only left a faint mark on the screen directly in front of my head. I'm assuming that it was an accident, something either bouced off a flatbed or was run over and flipped up by a tyre although it is not beyond the realms of possibility that one of the local darlings may have lobbed it off the bridge we were passing under.
Whatever it was, I knew that I couldn't complain about not winning the lottery that week - my fair share of luck was all used up.

I had a narrow escape when A cork life preserver rose up over a sea wall in a 70mph wind at which point the rope snapped and it shot over the roof of my car with inches to spare
This reminds me of the accident to Gordon Kaye (Renee from 'allo 'allo) who was hit in the forehead by a plank that almost ended his career

I nearly got taken out like that a while ago. Was in a contraflow and a lorry coming the other way sent a cone flying right towards me!
The Mod 1 hazard avoidance test is worth it!

Wow that'll teach him to video his drive waiting for something to happen.

Why was he even filming in the first place?

Good question Mark.. My guess he reckoned there was going to be an accident. As luck would would have it, one happened.
Moral of the story - be careful what your wish for.

1) It was a she. (That should explain a lot)
2) Apparently she was videotaping for "evidence" of trucks causing a traffic backup.
Beyond the fact she was following too closely (a moving violation) and videoing while driving (which is "distracted driving" and thus a moving violation), she was extremely lucky.
