Very sad, they should give the old war canoes a dignified end by towing them out to sea and pulling the plug.
If it was the USA they would park it up in a harbour and turn it into a profitable museum / events venue, wish we could do that with old UK kit.

Was HMS Invincible towed to her final resting place or did she arrive under her own power?

...Like the USS Midway.

Better to scuttle the old warships than to let them fall into the hands of foreign countries.

Exactly Brian!
I always drop by the Midway when in San Diego... I was on the USS Intrepid in NY a few months ago and could not help but wish they hung on to the Ark Royal the same way with some old Phantoms / Vixens / Gannets / Buccs / Seakings and Wessex on board.... oh well!

Its amazing what the Americans have preserved of their historic sea power. At least one example of each of their WW2 battleship designs, including three out of the four Iowa-class ships ( the Iowa herself remains ready to be donated to a museum ), Liberty ships, submarines, LSTs... I wish I had the money and time to do a tour of them all.

Likewise.
I worked on her final outfit whilst serving my time.
