Classic British Flight Sim

Ever since I had my new FSX install (after an upgrade to Windows 7 and new HD) I have had problems with my flight controls, the same ones that worked perfectly for 18 months as a pair before the re-install.
I have a Saitek X52 pro (stick/throttle) and CH Pro pedals, both USB inputs.

Now, almost every time I start the sim and sometimes on every new flight within the sim session, I lose my pedals! I have to unplug and re-plug them physically, which always sorts the problem, but has anyone got any ideas what is different from before that is causing this? Windows say both items are working fine.

It sounds like a USB hardware fault, if they are plugged in directly to the motherboard try plugging one of them into a powered usb hub. It may be that one of them is drawing too much current

But I have 4 USB sockets in the back (where these controls have always lived) and two at the front (where I now put the pedals, so I can plug them in and out without too much bending!), do you mean buy a remote hub? I now often lose the lights from the throttle, but not the stick, perhaps that is another clue?

Are the rear sockets USB2 & the front USB1? Perhaps the controls are not USB1 friendly.

Its not flightsim, but when I plug my mp3 player into my front ports the machine mutters & gives me a dialogue box that the 'equipment' might work a lot better if it were plugged into USB2 ports.

Thanks Bob, but the fault remains both at the back and front, it's just easier to re-plug the blighter back in the front one, rather than have to slide the case out and rummage!

Is it not just the fact you are on windows 7 now and there is a driver/hardware conflict with the newer OS??

Shouldn't be, my X52 and Saitek pedals worked straight away under Win 7. Still worked 8 months later when I actually installed the drivers!
If there is a conflict Win 7 should flag it up in the Action Centre and/or the device manager.

Have you tried the pedals in another machine to see if they're defective? It may even be a weak connection in the plug.

Incidentally I get the opposite light problem to you, doesn't seem to cause any issues though!

Everything works well when it works, I have updated all I can too, I guess it might be a dodgy plug or socket, I'll have a bit of a swap about and see. Alas, (being poor!), I only have the one PC!

just curious , but did you uninstall the saitek software and then install the win 7 version?

If the USB devices are disconnecting i.e. lights going off, its related to the USB controller, and most likely power (for whatever reason) Try one device at a time and see if it fails as often as it is with both plugged in (one will draw less current) If it still fails, if its an intel MB download the latest intel chipset drivers from the intel website
