Took advantage of a break in the rain today to get a ride in, and took a few snaps. Things are finally starting to green up, which is a good thing.

Thought this cloud formation was impressive:





The Des Moines River flow south from the reservoir. The downtown skyline (the blocky bits) are about 10 miles off.

Great pix, Chris! Looks a bit chilly there, we have had 80F+ for the last few days - humid too. London has had some warm weather also. All of our local TV news operations have crews over there for the wedding and they are all remarking about the warm weather, especially given the usual Colonial stereotypical thought that London is foggy and rainy all the time. Ha, I am sure the good weather will change soon, both in London and here.

My new bike arrived today as well. Hope you don't mind if I hijack your thread a bit to show it off? It arrived from Germany in a box and I've just finished putting it together. I think the wheels might be upside down but it'll probably be OK . I love new things, don't you? Especially bikes (the car's the memsahib's - nothing to do with me, except paying for it!)



I'll look forward to some summer scenery from over the water in a month or so.

Beautiful bike Ian. Looks the mutts nuts. You'll be avoiding every muddy puddle for the first few days.

Its always the way with these things. You'll look after and cherish something for ages until it gets the first scratch, and then... meh, f***k it.

Ian - no worries about the hijack, I'm a little envious now seeing your new wheels. I would probably get marching orders if I tried to sneak a third bike into the garage, given that it's a one-car garage and the partner's car is out on the driveway.

I will say that had the weather been more active, that cloud would have me running. Last summer I was about half-way across the same dam when a very loud clap of thunder boomed across the lake. Came very near needing a new pair of bicycle shorts that day.
