There was something brief in the Fighter Control forum late this afternoon re that Chris, my thoughts went to to the families when I saw it and the quiet hope that our resident Yak jockey was someplace else today as well.
:( not a good, I'm very sorry for those caught up in it my sympathies to everyone in their families.

That's sad news indeed but I don't think it's our resident Yak pilot.

Looking at the photo in the link above the colour scheme is wrong as our pilot's plane was repainted in green/brown camo just last year.

damn , my heart skipped a beat though.

tragic news , ... there was one lost here in the states a few months ago in New York somewhere.

On a more cheerful note.
There were two yaks in formation over White Waltham last week and a singleton Yak over Winnersh.
Spent a few enjoyable minutes watching them.
