Hi folks,
Not quite aviation related, but wonderful to see this preserved old girl working for a living once more.
Read up on it and she appears to be on temporary hire to GB Freight to deal with a very large workload.

Neat video.

I'm guessing there's not many Deltics left still up and running?

There are 6 (3 in BR blue, 3 in older BR green) not all running at the same time but they all have been.

I remember several years ago they had one running on the mainline pulling scheduled passengers. Bought ticket just to ride behind one

I did a journey from Kings Cross to Edinburgh in the seventies and was pulled by her. I think the sound of a Deltic is to Diesel trains the equivalent of a Merlin to aircraft.

Sounds better then a Merlin IMO

Especialy when it's being thrashed and is putting out loads of clag

I have to admit I prefer the 'Deltic' sound on rails rather than in this/these..

My Lordz (rail enthusiast term

Decent thread. Yes 55022 RSG has been on hire for about 3 weeks. This week is the last week I think, but the loco continues to haul specials on the network. In fact I'm booked on one in July I think it is , from here (Doncaster) to the sunny sarf! Paignton.
You've made my week. I'm off back into my box again now
