Classic British Flight Sim

I have been exploring my BTInternet Security system, comes with my ISP package (no choice). In the Virus scan/Quarantine file I found, much to my surprise, 3000+ files(?). I selected all of them and then found that I could not delete any of them due to 'access denied'.

McAfee do not seem to have a 'help' file.

Can anyone please tell me my best course of action to deal with these quarantined objects?

If they are just left on my computer, one assumes that more will arrive as time goes on, do they slow my computer down?

Seems odd that one cannot get rid of them.

They shouldn't cause any probs in quarantine, but of course they are taking up disk space

you would most likely have to delete these in the AV software, generally if you go into your quarenteen section in AV you should be able to select and delete/empty them indevidually or as a whole...

Seems to be quite common for McAfee users to suffer this problem. Have a read of this thread as there are some explanations and some temporary solutions here. What there isn't is any help from the McAfee moderators! Apparently they're mostly cookies but they seem to accumulate at an alarming rate.

By following the forum in Speedbirdd591's reply I have been able to delete, after a couple of restarts, the 'quarantined' file and its contents. I then made a new 'quarantined' file in the McAfee/Virus scan tree. I hope that I have done the correct drill. Time will tell.

Please note that if you follow the correspondence in the McAfee forum you should note that despite a number of approaches the McAfee moderator has not yet come up with a recommended McAfee drill for removing quarantined files!!!

Well there is a choice = don't install it. I'm also with BT and have always declined their Internet Security offering, preferring to choose my own.
