An-2

Post by WhisperJet »

Just discovered at AVSIM:
Antonov An-2, ver.2011, FS9-only by Vladimir A. Zhyhulskiy

http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DL ... D=fs2004ac

Didn't try it myself - so this is just a HU for those interested...

Best wishes,

Nick

Fantastic model, though quite slow, didn't think the AN-2 was that slow. Also an "FSX" version over at Avsim.ru

I watched one take off locally a few weeks ago

It was for ever on the runway heading before turning right, which was about five mile away

Took a long time to disappear out of view.

I do see the occasionally and am always almost surprised with just how big they are :-O

Something really elegant about an aeroplane sailing along at such speeds.....if elegant is a term that could be applied to it.

Does it have speed brakes Nick???

Well, I think the fuselage design works as sort of an inbuilt auto spoiler... :dunno:
At least I couldn't find any runway overruns on the web...

Cheers,

If it had one, it'd be scaled from 0 to 0.1. :)

You have to raise the under carriage, it creates too much drag leaving it down.

Waits for it.....................

Engine out proceedure is to pull hard back on the stick and allow the aircraft to float to the ground.

"If the engine quits in instrument conditions (blind flying when you can't see the ground) or at night, the pilot should pull the control column full aft (it won't stall) and keep the wings level. The leading-edge slats will snap out at about 40 mph (64 km/h), and when the airplane slows to a forward speed of about 25 mph [40 km/h], the airplane will sink at about a parachute descent rate until the aircraft hits the ground."
