Hawker Hind recovered from Afghanistan, awaiting restoration;

The Blenheim, one day to fly ( and hopefully not crash this time );

A couple of the recently rolled out Vampire T11 restoration;

Harrier GR9 ZD461 undergoing conservation. It's destined for the IWM in Lambeth, London.

Hurricane Mk I R4118 UP-W, a Battle of Britain veteran with 5 kills to its credit. It didn't fly while I was there, but looked great just sitting on the green grass and in the spring sunshine;

Cub and Jug ;)

TFC's P-47 was undergoing engine tests, and actually taxied around the airfield, testing her steering and whatnot. It's reckoned she will make her first post-restoration flight within the next two or three weeks

Nice.

How was the Beaufighter looking?

Thanks for sharing those pics. But it's just odd to see a Harrier of that generation in a museum... actually it's not odd, it's just plain wrong :-(

Kind regards

John

Thanks Darren. The Beaufighter is on its main wheels, and no engines fitted as yet. There was someone doing some work nearby so its moving along, but nowhere near fast enough for those who want to see it fly ;). Tried to find a recent photo of it in my collection, but no luck. I'll take some next time I'm in there. :)

Sounds much like it was last time I was there (2010 I think)

Also that Hawker Hind reminds me, one of it's cousins the only airworthy Hawker Demon is up for auction - http://www.classic-auctions.com/home/de ... demon.aspx

Beaufighter in 2010.

Yep Darren, your photo shows the Beaufighter pretty much as still appears. I think there is a lot of the less visible work going on, such as wiring and hydraulic pipework and such like. Its a wonderful restoration, for sure. :)

Vampire is excellent although I haven't seen quite that scheme before. I know (earlier on?) they had yellow wrap-around stripes on the wings and tail booms and later ones had day-glo orange stripes but I hadn't seen this before although I think it's similar to the orginal bare-metal scheme on the DH125 Dominies, anyone know?

I Think it may be the same as the box art of the new Airfix Gnat. Not a common scheme though.
