it's interesting to read how they were concerned about the cabin window and had tested them extensively.

Always good to read contemporary accounts untainted by later knowledge.

A lot of hope there which a year or so later would all be dashed :'(

Sadly it was the fuselage that failed before the windows. Apparently the prototypes test schedules and relatively high rate of pressure cycling, relative to operational flights, had effectively caused the fuselages to become more resistant to the fatigue failures that brought down the operational aircraft.
