.... a couple of days ago when I took the bike into town now that the Festival is in full swing.I use the word snaps because that's what most of them really are but they might give a small taste of what happens at his time of the year.
On the way in,bike(take note Ian) on an aqueduct on the Union canal. The hill in the distance is Arthur's Seat,an extinct volcanic plug in the city centre.

Thanks Garry. The poppy is hidden amongst the flowers in the next to last shot!.
Really, these don't capture the scale of the event be it the amount of street theatre, promos for Fringe events, the noise, music and aromas of food. The central area is packed with visitors and locals alike.
Tomorrow one of my favourite events starts. That is The Book Festival in Charlotte Square.A glance at the websites for the Festival will give some idea of the scale.www.edbookfest.co.uk and www.edfringe.com
I hope the weather holds for everyone there. :) EricT

Roger that on the poppy...it's spending time with friends

I know what you mean about the smell and the way the sounds of speakers and music bounces with a sort of double echo, all adds to the atmosphere, but the pics are good enough for the brains to evoke memories and fill that sort of detail in. :)

The bike pic alongside the canal is a brilliant inclusion for it's a good out and about pic in contrast to the main event.

It's very peaceful tranquility set beside still water give an impression of taking a break before the mayhem of the festival and by it very nature of peace bolsters the impression of noise and action of the main set.

The boat and them the fringes of the activity with a few people in the greenery all lead up to the main event...you can almost hear it in the background getting louder and louder as we are led in..than back to the pic of a barge :)

Nicely put together :)

It looks a fantastic atmosphere at the festival. Your photos really bring it alive. Well done, Eric!

So how does that guy stay in the air? Is it something to do with that white pole disappearing up his dress?

And I hope you didn't cycle across that bridge - it looks a bit narrow to me. I know that if I cycled along there I'd be so worried about going in that it would be inevitable 8)

Ian :)

Ian,I don' t know how the 'levitator' did it,and I sure as hell wasn't going look up his 'skirt' for a clue!
cycling over the aqueduct is discouraged, although I have done it if there are no pedestrians about. On top of which the cobbles make it uncomfortable! :) EricT

No, quite :-O

Well, two possibilities. Either he's levitating or he's doing what the Indian mystics have done for years. There is a long 'foot' under the mat and a steel bar fixed to the upright that runs up his sleeve and which has a seat suspended from it.

Simple it is.
